Eve Cartier – Mas de Gourgonnier, Les Beaux de Provence

Eve’s grandfather planted 45 ha of vines here, one of the most beautiful places on earth, in 1950. In 1975 he realised that he was not interested in farming any other way than organic,
hence the soils are alive and in beautiful shape.

Except wines he was also clever enough to care about another, very important ingredient in life: olive oil, so he plated 20 ha of olive trees as well. Today Eve Cartier runs this place together with her father, uncle and cousin.

Eve’s mainly in the cellar and office, and her father, uncle and cousin in the vineyards. She worked for some time in California before diving into the family business. Well back home she learnt all about making natural wines and has since she returned here in 2005 lowered the sulphites to a minimum and is also making one red wine always without sulphur.

The wines: so elegant and fresh at the same time with lots of layers and depth. The typical herbal thread that bring your mind to Provence is also very much present.
